It is not generally known whether Clara presented this sampler as a gift to her mother or not. She placed in the sampler all patterns of a pattern collection available in form of booklets at that time. Many of the examples still have their symbolic meanings to this very day:
love: heart, flame, red rose
hope: anchor, crown
faith: cross, crown
vigilance and loyalty: dog
The original piece is in private property.
Crosses: 181 x 179
Size: 26 x 25,5 cm
Stitches: Cross stitch
